Brian Lombardo

Brian Lombardo brings over 25 years of experience to Gateway as a financial professional.  Mr. Lombardo has extensive experience in the areas needed to help you with your financial planning needs.  He is currently licensed as a CPA in California and Tennessee.   Mr. Lombardo specializes in comprehensive financial planning and wealth management to high net worth families.   He will prepare a comprehensive financial plan that enables families to plan when they can retire or achieve increased flexibility with their career that affords them the lifestyle that they desire.  He works with portfolio managers to ensure client assets are optimized to achieve the returns desired within the clients' specific acceptable level of risk.  Brian has a very strong understanding of relevant tax law to apply appropriate tax management strategies for any financial plan.  Given his background as a former CFO, he works well with business owners to bring ideas to the table for successfully managing their business or planning for a business exit.  

Mr. Lombardo has been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) since 2011.  He was a former CFO and corporate controller for a variety of venture funded startup companies. Licensed as a CPA in 1996, Brian spent his early career with Grant Thornton LLP.  Mr. Lombardo held corporate positions at Cisco Systems, Avanex Corp, GenPlay Games and a number of successful venture capital funded startup companies.

In 1993, Mr. Lombardo graduated magna cum laude with a double major in Finance and Accounting from UMASS at Lowell.  He successfully passed the CPA exam while still in college in May 1993 and became licensed as a CPA in 1996 after completing 3 years of CPA firm experience.  Mr. Lombardo obtained various Insurance and Securities licensing in 2008 and 2009.  

On a personal note, in 2005, Mr. Lombardo was married to his lovely wife, Alice.  They have two children, Brian Jr and Kate.  Most of his time outside of work is spent with family, coaching team sports, relaxing with friends, going to church related activities, playing pickleball and occasionally playing some golf.  Additionally, Mr. Lombardo has served on a variety of non-profit boards and lead a weekly community youth outreach program in downtown San Jose from 2002 – 2011.  Mr. Lombardo runs his practice out of Franklin, TN.
